Sefiroth in the Hebrew tradition express the creative aspects through which the primordial infinity, the undivided unity, is revealed. The term sefira derives from the word ספר (safar, sefer, separ) - to count, to write, text or boundary, also related to the word sphere. There are eleven sefiroth in total, two of which, Keter and Da'at, are considered to be dual manifestations of the same principle that can be unified. 11₁₀=10₁₁ Sefiroth are sometimes depicted as concentric circles, expressing their hierarchical relationships. More usual is their arrangement in three vertical columns, which is often referred to as the Tree of Life. Between its ten sefiroth are 22 links, usually denoted by the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The linear vertical arrangement of the sefiroth also refers to the upright posture of man and the eleven sefiroth are usually related to the eleven parts of the human body. To represent human gait faithfully, it is sufficient to capture the movement of eleven salient points - the head, the junction of the shoulders, the elbows, the wrists, the junction of the hips, the knees and the ankles.

Sefiry v hebrejské tradici vyjadřují tvořivé aspekty, kterými se vyjevuje prapůvodní nekonečno, nerozdělená jednota. Označení sefira se odvozuje od slova ספר (safar, sefer, separ) – počítat, psát, text nebo hranice, souvisí i se slovem sféra. Sefir je celkem jedenáct, dvě z nich, Keter a Da'at, jsou považovány za dvojí manifestaci téhož principu, kterou lze sjednotit. 11₁₀=10₁₁ Sefiry někdy bývají zobrazovány jako soustředné kruhy, což vyjadřuje jejich hierarchické vztahy. Obvyklejší je jejich uspořádání do tří svislých sloupců, které bývá označováno jako Strom života. Mezi jeho deseti sefirami je 22 spojnic, obvykle označovaných 22 písmeny hebrejské abecedy. Lineární svislé uspořádání sefir odkazuje též na vzpřímený postoj člověka a jedenáct sefir bývá uváděno do vztahu s jedenácti částmi lidského těla. Pro věrohodné znázornění chůze člověka postačuje zachytit pohyb jedenácti význačných bodů – hlavy, spojnice ramen, loktů, zápěstí, spojnice kyčlí, kolen a kotníků.
